For weeks now, Toyota has been teasing us with the above image and the caption: “At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, a modern racing concept signals Toyota’s commitment to bring back to market it’s most iconic sports car.” On Twitter, we have also seen the caption, “The legend returns.” For a lot of automotive enthusiasts, this is something that we have been waiting for. When Toyota released the GT86 or the Scion FRS at the time for the US market, we began to speculate on the possibility of a return of the Toyota Supra. There are speculations that this new Supra will come with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six. It will produce 335 HP and 332 torque paired with an eight-speed transmission. Currently, the price point is still unavailable.
In 2014, Toyota unveiled the FT-1 Concept at the North American International Auto Show. Toyota stated that the FT-1 stood for “Future Toyota and the number “1” represents the ultimate. We were invited to a private event in Northern California just a few months later where we got to see the FT-1 in person. Here are some photos that we took from that event.
The release will be on March 6th at 12:45am PST at the Geneva Motor Show. We will be staying up to watch the livestream of the event. You can also see the livestream at https://livestream.com/Toyota/Geneva2018
